Olive oil for our health

Olive oil is one of the healthiest fats in the world!!!

When we talk about healthy olive oil, we are only referring to cold-extracted, extra virgin olive oil.

Olive oil has many health-promoting properties.

In Greece, but also all over the world, olive oil is used because, in addition to the unique taste it gives to dishes, there is now serious scientific evidence: 

O  that protects against diseases 

O  that it has a therapeutic effect and 

O  which gives it vitality, youth and longevity.

The antioxidants found in olive oil, vitamin E, carotenoids, polyphenols and other compounds have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties that can help fight serious diseases.

Regular consumption of olive oil can help prevent this and reduce your risk of dangerous inflammation — especially heart disease.  

 

It is recommended as a "natural remedy" that has a protective effect:

·      Against cardiovascular diseases

Olive oil reduces harmful “bad” cholesterol (LDL) levels and increases healthy “good” cholesterol (HDL) levels in the blood. Reduces the formation of thrombosis.

·      Against cancer diseases

Olive oil has a protective effect against colon and colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, endometrial cancer, prostate cancer and breast cancer.  Scientific studies have shown that the risk is reduced by 10%-25%.

·      Against high blood pressure

It has also been shown that the daily intake of olive oil has a lowering effect on both maximum (systolic) and minimum (diastolic) blood pressure. The risk of stroke is also reduced.

·      Against diabetes

The intake of olive oil improves the regulation of glucose (the level of sugar) in the blood and contributes to a good metabolism.

·      Against inflammation

Olive oil works against inflammation or helps to reduce it.

·      Against aging

The causes of aging is based on the oxidation processes caused by free radicals. The body prevents this oxidation with the natural production of antioxidants. However, the older we get, the more the production of these antioxidants decreases. Those naturally present in extra virgin olive oil  Antioxidants help maintain the body's production of antioxidants and reduce the effects of oxidation.

·      Against Alzheimer's

Oleocanthal, derived from extra virgin olive oil, has the potential to reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's or related neurodegenerative dementia.

·      Against stomach, intestines, bile

High-quality olive oil is easy to digest and is said to be a particularly good remedy for stimulating the flow of bile and for stomach problems. For constipation, the oil acts as a mild laxative.
